Meet Ms Rachel
Rachel Samuels is the founder and instructor behind Samuels Violin Studio. She began playing the violin at age six after seeing a kindergarten classmate play at show and tell — a moment that sparked a lifelong love of music.
Rachel studied violin through the Suzuki Method and completed the Suzuki book repertoire by her senior year of high school. She went on to perform with the Snow College Orchestra and the Orchestra at Utah Valley University, continuing to grow as both a musician and performer.
Rachel is trained in the Suzuki Method through the Suzuki Association of America and is a current member of the Suzuki Association of Utah. She has a deep love for teaching and is devoted to guiding students of all ages, finding true joy in helping her students fall in love with the violin and music.
What is the Suzuki Method?
Dr. Shinichi Suzuki developed the groundbreaking Suzuki Method after recognizing how naturally children learn their native language. He believed that music could be learned in the same way — through listening, repetition, encouragement, and a supportive environment.
The Suzuki Method is based on learning music by ear first, much like learning to speak, while gradually developing strong music-reading skills as well. Students listen daily to their repertoire, memorize each piece, and learn through consistent review. This approach builds solid technique, musical sensitivity, and confidence.
At its heart, the Suzuki Method is about more than learning an instrument. Dr. Suzuki believed that music education should develop the whole person — fostering discipline, perseverance, confidence, and a genuine love of music that lasts a lifetime. At Samuels Violin Studio, this philosophy is at the core of how we teach every student.
